Review: Phillips Sonicare 2 Series (Best Electric Toothbrush?)
When you think about purchasing an electronic toothbrush, you want one that will be gentle on your gums as well as on your teeth. You will also want one that will be easy to maneuver, and it will help you improve your brushing style. Yet, many toothbrush manufactures advertise features such as different modes of brushing, but these features do not essentially lead to your teeth and gums being healthier. Therefore, after doing some research on different types of toothbrushes we have narrowed it down to just four models that will, in fact, inspire healthier brushing habits for a healthy looking smile.
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series
The Philips Sonicare 2 Series is the electronic toothbrush that we choose to be the best overall. It is our top pick because it offers a very effective clean without the feeling of being gimmicky. It provides a very clean feeling because it is a sonic toothbrush and the head of the toothbrush rapidly vibrates in order to help remove more of the plaque that is on your teeth easily. After using this particular toothbrush, I have to say that it caused the least amount of gum irritation when it is being compared to brands such as the Oral-B, which has an oscillating head. The Philips Sonicare 2 Series also features a 2-minute timer, which is divided into 30 seconds segments. This timing feature ensures that you will brush your teeth long enough to effectively clean them as well as your gums. However, because it is divided into 30-second segments it will help you keep track of just how long you are brushing so you have less of a chance of damaging both your teeth and gums. At the low price of $40.00, the Philips Sonicare 2 Series is a very solid investment when it comes to improving the health of your teeth and gums.
The Oral-B Pro 1000 Electric Toothbrush
This particular toothbrush is also one of my favorite. The Oral-B Pro 1000 will clean your teeth and gums as well as the Sonicare 2 Series will, but if you have very sensitive gums, it just may be a little bit harsher on them. This particular model of electric toothbrush is an oscillating model, this means that it actually vibrates a little bit slower than the Sonicare 2 and it is much less likely to “tickle” or rather vibrate your teeth, which I find to be a very uncomfortable sensation. This electric toothbrush also features a built-in quad pacer that also breaks the 2-minute timer into 30-second segments. This will help with evenly brushing your entire mouth. At an even lower price than the Sonicare 2 at $30.00, this toothbrush is also another great choice.
The DiamondClean Smart sonic Electric Toothbrush
If you are a person who looks to purchase the top of the line items, here is the toothbrush just for you. This amazing toothbrush uses a very simple two-button interface and it includes some unique technique-improving features. These features include a pressure sensor that will let you know if you are brushing your teeth a little too hard. It also has an app that will display a 3D model of a set of teeth in order to help you track your brushing habits in real-time. (Now who doesn’t want that?) This app will also display an alert so you will know that you are using too wide of a brush stroke, in all actuality this is a very common technique flaw. With all of these bells and whistles, it is no wonder that the price tag will set you back $165.00. But, if you are that person who needs the top of the line everything and wants all the bells and whistles that come with it, this is the toothbrush for you.
Sonicare for Kids Sonic Electric Toothbrush
If you are a parent, you know just how much fun it is when it comes to getting your little-loved ones to brush their teeth. The Sonicare for Kids Sonic Electric Toothbrush comes in many different bright colors, and let us not forget about the stickers (every kid loves stickers). Just like the DiamondClean this toothbrush also comes with a compatible phone app. This app is awesome when it comes to keeping children engaged while they brush their teeth. It even managed to make my very reluctant child excited to try it out again the next morning. The timer on this toothbrush starts with 1 minute and it can be progressively increased to a 2-minute span as your little one gets used to the routine. As with anything that is manufactured for a child, they will outgrow it, but with a small investment of $40.00, you will be able to pave the way for a future of healthy teeth and gums.
My Recommendation
This is what I really wanted in a toothbrush – it must be electric and if it was electric, it must be rechargeable who wants to be brushing their teeth and have the batteries die. The second was to have a timer, I am very busy and not always on top of things (meaning I will bounce from one thing to another without noticing), so to have a timer means that I will stay in one place until that timer goes off and I have properly brushed my teeth. The third was price, the price is important to me (mainly because I do not know too many people who have lots of money to spend on a toothbrush).
Although the DiamondClean Smart Sonic Electric Toothbrush is an awesome toothbrush with lots of bells and whistles – I would have to still go with the Philips Sonicare 2 Series even though it does vibrate my teeth. It does an amazing job at cleaning my teeth and gums without irritation and compared to the $165.00 price tag that comes with the DiamondClean Smart Sonic Electric Toothbrush a mere $40.00 was the way to go.
