Review: First Aid Beauty Skin Summit (#1 Discount Set For Sensitive Skin?)

First Aid Beauty is a line I know and have an affinity for after trying and reviewing their Ultra Repair Cream and Pure Skin Face Cleanser- the skincare and cosmetics company is known for providing gentle and effective solutions for even the most sensitive skin types, including those with varying topical conditions, yet I had never previously tried the trending “Skin Summit” collection.

The line is suitable for those with all skin types, and definitely a hit amongst those with the most sensitive skin (including those who suffer from eczema, rosacea, and other topical conditions), as they only use extremely gentle and clean ingredients in every product formulation, all of which are dermatologist tested and devoid of any harsh chemical additives, sulfates, or parabens.

The brands “Skin Summit” collection is a 5-piece collection of bestselling products that sells for under much less than individual retail cost, with a retail value of $112. Considering the products are both gentle and effective (for those with sensitive, more resilient, or normal complexions), this item is quite the steal and definitely tops the holiday shopping list this year- if you have a potential recipient in your life who enjoys clean skincare products or has very sensitive skin.

This kit also makes an excellent item as an introductory set for those who are new to the brand and may have potential trepidation, especially if you’ve dabbled in other sensitive skincare products with negative results in the past. As an aside, there are over 1,300 on First Aid Beauty’s “no” list, so suffice to say this line goes far beyond eliminating the usual additives and sulfate binding products that can create irritation and allergy.

All of the products in the set are formulated with clean ingredients and designed to treat concerns such as redness, dullness, dryness, and uneven texture. While they are not advanced retroactive anti-aging products, they also offer preventative anti-aging benefits and all of the included products in the set act to protect the skin from future damage, creating a suitable protective barrier for those of us who are cautious about environmental and sun damage.

This review will cover the main features on the “Skin Summit” collection, as well as some main ingredients and benefits with corresponding topical use (particularly for those with varying sensitivity concerns), a brief brand background, a look at the included products with more concise reviews, some pros and cons to bear in mind prior to potential purchase, and a final verdict, to help you make a more informed purchasing choice prior to any point of sale.

First Aid Beauty Skin Summit Review

First Aid Beauty’s Skin Summit collection features 5 bestselling skincare items that are all gentle, effective, allergy-tested and free of any additives or fragrance.

The products included in the set all work in tandem to deliver benefits with continual daily topical use including hydration, soothing any redness or irritation, repairing any damage to the skin, preventative anti-aging benefits, and additional benefits including restored radiance, brightening, evenness of tone and texture, and minimizing the appearance of pore size.

From the manufacturer, “Ultra Repair Cream is a rich, whipped emollient that hydrates your skin from head to toe, while providing immediate relief and long-lasting protection for dry, distressed skin—even eczema. It is clinically proven to increase hydration by 169 percent immediately upon application. Facial Radiance Pads are daily treatment pads that exfoliate, tone, and brighten in a single swipe. Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask is a deeply hydrating mask that helps nourish and rejuvenate dry, distressed skin in just 10 minutes. Pure Skin Face Cleanser is a luxurious, irritant-free cleanser that gently removes makeup, dirt, and grime. Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum is a lightweight hydrating gel with hyaluronic acid that helps lock in moisture and quench thirsty skin. These clean formulations are safe for sensitive skin, allergy-tested, and fragrance-free.”

If you’re seeking products for sensitive skin, seeking an introductory item as a new user, seeking a set with incredible value in comparison to retail, or looking for a gift this holiday season for a recipient on your list who enjoys cosmetics and skincare (especially if they are sensitive or you’re uncertain of their skin type and complexion), this item makes a great go-to and I would highly recommend investing in it.

If you’re looking for other great products for sensitive skin, we’d also recommend Aveeno’s Daily Moisturizing Lotion and O’Keeffe’s Hand Cream that we’ve reviewed previously!

First Aid Beauty Skin Summit: The Included Products

2 oz Pure Skin Face Cleanser

This cleanser is definitely one of my favorite go-to’s in the entire category, and it provides skincare benefits along with a deep cleanse that still leaves the skin feeling incredibly soft and hydrated following use.

It removes all makeup (including mascara and eye product), never burns the eyes, is free of any fragrance, and feels incredibly refreshing and gentle to use. It’s suitable for all skin types, and even as someone with acne-prone and sensitive skin (particularly with cleansing products).

This product also generally eliminates the need for a toner as well, as the skin is left fresh, hydrated, and free of any dirt or oil-build up. The product is also extremely soft, minimal use is required for an entire wash providing a high degree of product longevity, and it never feels greasy on the skin or leaves behind any residue.

I would highly recommend this for those seeking a suitable daily go-to cleanser, particularly those with sensitive skin types.

6 oz Ultra Repair Cream

The FAB Ultra Repair Cream is perfect for those with dry and sensitive skin, especially if you’re trying to alleviate redness, irritation or any topical conditions.

While it has an extremely rich texture, it never feels heavy or greasy on the skin, and definitely works to improve any dryness very quickly (even following first time use).

The product is an all-over moisturizer for daily use that can be used on the face or body, if desired. The soft, whipped texture is highly absorbing and does not feel greasy, sticky or heavy, or leave any residue behind following use.

It is formulated with sensitive skin in mind, and free of any irritating agents or chemical additives, but can be used by those with any skin type, including more resilient skin (if you’re experiencing dryness). The product is so gentle and soothing it can even be used on children and babies, which may help assuage fears in those prone to breakouts or with extremely sensitive skin types.

The product leaves skin looking radiant, and feeling smooth, hydrated, and nourished immediately following use. Results including restored hydration are almost immediate and noticed directly following use, with more improvements in the following days with continual daily use. It can be paired with any cleanser and seems to work well with the First Aid Beauty cleanser, which is also suitable for sensitive skin and never breaks me out or feels irritating.

The moisturizer is perfect for combating dry, scaly, skin, or treating rough patches on the face or body. It has anti-aging benefits including improvements in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so it’s also suitable for any age or those concerned with reversing signs of aging. It protects the skin from free radical damage and sun damage, by forming a protective barrier on the surface layer.

Formulated with colloidal oatmeal, Shea butter, allantoin, and ceramides, all of the ingredients are safe and natural, perfect for sensitive skin, and work in the treatment of different topical conditions.

2 oz Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask

As an Allure Best of Beauty winner, this product is an ideal treatment mask for those with dry and dehydrated skin, or looking to treat any topical redness, irritation, or dullness.

Formulated free of any parabens, sulfates, and harsh chemical additives, this mask is a gentle formulation and blend of protective oats that soothes and hydrates the skin within 10 minutes (results are immediate following even first time use).

Designed to repair any redness, dryness, and give the skin a boost of moisture, the product is soothing and gentle, and leaves the skin feeling incredibly soft and with a more radiant aesthetic. It works to alleviate any dryness and topical conditions, and is suitable for all skin types (including sensitive skin, as with the other included products). It does not feel greasy, sticky, or heavy on the skin during use, and proves to be incredibly soothing.

Additional benefits include treating acne and preventing the formation of new breakouts (for those who are acne-prone or seeking anti-acne benefits), brightening, and treating any flakiness or dry patches.

I would highly recommend trying this product if you’re looking for a mask treatment with an incredibly gentle formulation, and seeking a soothing and hydrating formulation. This does the job and acts as a great pick-me-up for those experiencing any irritation very quickly.

.5 oz Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum

This water based serum is designed to hydrate those of all skin types (including the most sensitive skin), and also works to treat anti-aging concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles.

From the manufacturer, “Formulated for all skin types, Ultra Repair Hydrating Serum instantly infuses skin with essential hydration to help plump and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Its lightweight texture makes it perfect for layering under your favorite AM and PM moisturizers. Hyaluronic acid—a moisture-locking agent—helps hydrate, plump, and nurture. Peptides help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while collagen helps skin appear more plump and replenished with an improved-looking texture. Colloidal oatmeal, along with aloe leaf juice, help calm and soothe irritated skin for an allover healthy-looking and feeling complexion.”

This was definitely one of my favorite products included in the set along with the cleanser and moisturizer, and it is extremely hydrating without ever feeling sticky or greasy on the skin. It helps to eliminate any redness, dryness, and works to treat any dry patches or topical irritation.

It’s extremely hydrating yet lightweight, and with daily continual use I definitely noticed visible benefits and even received compliments on my skin (benefits included a more radiant aesthetic, increased hydration, a brighter complexion and a more even tone).

If you’re sensitive and seeking a suitable formulation for a serum that’s lightweight but still hydrates, I would highly recommend this product.

60 x Facial Radiance Pads

The facial radiance pads were definitely useful and I noticed improvements in skin texture and clarity following use, however I did not notice many improvements in terms of more radiant skin or brightening benefits even with continual daily use.

Those with sensitive skin may not opt to use these pads every day (I did so safely with sensitive skin, however the pads can be slightly harsh, so if you suffer from a topical condition or are extremely sensitive, I would recommended using them gently every few days). Following use, the skin feels a bit “tingly,” for lack of a better term, but the product did not create any redness, irritation, or acne breakouts.

It’s important to bear in mind (if you have allergies to these ingredients), the pads are formulated using small amounts of lactic and glycolic acids, which are generally still suitable for sensitive skin in low quantities, but can still be irritating for some.

The multi-use product can be used prior to makeup application to prime the skin and create a more radiant finishing aesthetic, or used to simply exfoliate the skin to improve tone and texture. While I definitely noticed slight improvements in texture and tone, I did not personally gain any brightening benefits and did not feel skin appeared more radiant following use (although this is a highly variable factor, as many fans of the brand claim they definitely experience improvements in dull or sallow skin following use).

I was anticipating to like the pads slightly more than I did and the results did not meet my initial expectations, however the inclusion of 60 pads provides excellent product longevity, as even with continual daily use they will last months and definitely offer value in comparison to retail.

Other reviewers have claimed that they’ve experienced vast improvements in acne (hormonal or otherwise) by using these pads and they do seem to have a cult-like following and are highly reviewed, so I attribute the lack of benefits to a personal preference, and to remain objective it’s important to bear in mind most users seem to really love this product and experience benefits following use.

For those with topical conditions and skin reactivity or sensitivity, it’s always wise to check labels on skincare formulations or products and ingredients as you would the products you eat and foods you consume (as these active ingredients are absorbed into the skin and body). Positives and Negatives

Here is a look at some key pros and cons to bear in mind prior to purchase:

Pros

  • Cruelty-free company: company does not test any product formulations on any animals or use any animal product (excluding beeswax) during its manufacturing processes
  • All of the products are designed for those with all skin types, including the most sensitive skin and those with varying topical conditions- though it is important to denote you should always contact your dermatologist prior to a new skincare regimen with a topical condition, particularly if you are using prescriptive topical treatments
  • Excellent gifting option for a recipient in your life who enjoys skincare, particularly if they are prone to sensitive skin
  • The set is a great option as an introductory item to the line, especially if you’re sensitive or seeking to treat dry or red skin
  • For fans of the brand seeking value and variety, this product also makes an excellent option, and is a great way to try out a few of the bestselling SKUs at once with a remarkable savings

Cons

  • For those with extremely sensitive skin, it’s important to bear in mind (although this is a rare experience), the radiance pads included in the set do contain lactic and gylcolic acids, so if you’re sensitive or allergic to those ingredients I would recommend avoiding this product and certainly spot-testing prior to use.
